Frequently asked

Pricing questions

As shown above, we offer three plans: Free, Essentials, and Enterprise. Below are the key billing details and frequently asked questions to help you choose the right plan and understand how billing works:

The Free plan has no time limit.

Alpacon’s Free plan is available at no cost for as long as AlpacaX operates. It is well-suited for individuals managing home servers or small teams working on simple projects, enabling you to explore Alpacon’s core features at your own pace.

Billing is per server, not per user.

We charge based on the number of registered servers in a workspace, not on the number of registered members. Only one representative from your team will handle payments.

Each workspace is billed separately.

Your Alpacon account can include multiple workspaces, each with its own plan and billing interval. This means you may be responsible for payments in one workspace while being a regular member in another.

Reserve servers up front; extra usage is billed for the time it runs.

Each cycle starts by billing the servers connected at that moment—your reserved capacity for the cycle. Swap servers freely within it. Anything you run above that base is settled at the end of the cycle as time-weighted server-days: a server that ran for three days is billed for three days, not the month. Removing servers mid-cycle isn't refunded—it lowers the next cycle's reserved count.

The Essentials plan renews automatically on your billing date.

Your plan will automatically renew each month on the same date as your initial purchase. If a month lacks that date, the renewal will be adjusted to the nearest available date.

  • To downgrade from the Essentials plan to the Free plan, you must manually change your plan in the ‘Manage Plans’ menu under your workspace’s settings. Please adjust the number of registered servers to five or fewer and the number of members to three or fewer before downgrading.
  • If you wish to stop using Alpacon entirely after the current billing cycle, please delete your workspace by 23:59 on the day before the renewal date, according to your workspace’s time zone. Note that deleting a workspace will permanently erase all server data, and we cannot delete workspaces on your behalf.

Once the billing period begins, refunds are not available.

Once your billing period has started, resources are allocated to your workspace and refunds cannot be issued. This policy is in place to ensure fairness and consistency with our refund guidelines. To avoid unintended charges, we recommend downgrading to the Free plan or deleting your workspace before the next renewal date if you no longer wish to continue with a paid plan. However, if there are any billing system errors, such as charges applied while using a Free plan, we will refund any incorrect charges.

Enterprise customers can get infrastructure setup and consultation support.

We understand that server management environments can vary widely. For our self-hosted Enterprise plan users, we offer paid support for customized infrastructure setup and consulting services throughout the contract period. To receive personalized recommendations, please share details about your current setup with us at sales@alpacax.com. We will get back to you within a maximum of three working days.

Is the free plan really free?

Yes—free for as long as Alpacon operates. It is built for individuals with home servers or small teams on simple projects to explore the core features at their own pace.

How does Essentials billing work?

You pay upfront for the servers connected at the start of the cycle—your reserved capacity. Anything you run above it is settled at the end of the cycle as time-weighted server-days: three days of extra usage bills as three days, not a month.

Do I need to talk to sales to start?

No. Free and Essentials are self-serve—create an account and connect a server. Essentials requires at least one registered server in the workspace; without one, start on Free. Enterprise is the only plan that needs a conversation.

What is different about Enterprise?

Customisable options, subscription terms and payment methods agreed in a consultation—plus Extensions, self-hosted or air-gapped deployment, and a tailored quote.

Free forever. Upgrade when ready.

Create an account and connect a server, or talk to us about an Enterprise rollout.
